Sleep Deprivation Impedes Productivity

Sleep Deprivation Impedes Productivity
Brain needs rest at least six hours a day for adult. Taking a rest six hours a day is a standard for the brain to work again. Sleep is the only method which helps the brain to take a rest. You have one night to give your brain a rest sufficiently. You start to close your eyes and begin sleeping. Before sleeping, ascertain that you have turned off your television, switch off the lamp, and do not forget to make sure that you are not listening to the music due to the fact that brain always catches information are surrounding by sensory organs. The light of television and lamp will penetrate your eyelids and the optical nerve will continue what it catches to the brain. Additionally, you are listening to the music when you are sleeping. It will force your brain all night to process the information from the music which you listen to. It means that however you sleep along night, actually your body which only takes a rest but your brain does not. When your brain can take a rest well, it will regenerate hormones which contribute your brain to think, create and convey an idea. One research in Harvard found that sleep sufficiently can recover the activity of your brain. Sleep sufficiently is the natural method to freshen the brain and definitely, you can work in focus. On the contrary, sleep deprivation will impede brain to regenerate hormones and certainly it will impede productivity.
Sleep deprivation will impede your productivity because your brain cannot regenerate hormones by carrying amino acids from your blood and producing cortisol. Both amino acids and cortisol are very useful for your brain in working. Amino acids are used to give your brain a permanent memory. Carrying amino acids from blood to your brain will give a permanent memory if you can let your brain to do this process maximally by sleeping well at least six hours a day. Person who gets sleep deprivation will never get the permanent memory. It impedes him in producing good project. For example: Student who sleeps sufficiently will be easier remembering material than student who does not sleep sufficiently because the amount of amino acids which is transported is different. Some observers said that brain has to take a rest at least five to nine hours a day. It means to increase the regeneration of hormones in order to make our brain work maximally. They showed the data that in fact; Albert Einstein slept nine hours a day while Thomas Edison slept five hours a day. Einstein and Edison were scientists who had a big role in science. As scientists, they cared so much to give their brain enough rest to regenerate its hormones. If they had not had enough sleep, they would have not invented their inventions. In some articles told that Einstein had got insomnia, he tried everything in order to sleep. He found cola and drank it before sleeping. Miraculously, he could sleep well. These two scientists are the evidence that the sufficiency of sleep will bring about any productivity.
Another important hormone is cortisol which is produced by the brain after midnight to dawn. Cortisol is very important in reducing stress and bad mood. Cortisol is not only reducing stress and bad mood but also increasing concentration. Person who sleeps after midnight will never produce cortisol in his brain. Of course, he will be bad-temperated and will look older than person of the age. Take the example: programmer more often sleeps after midnight than teacher. Teacher can finish his job before midnight and then goes to sleep whereas programmer cannot finish his job before midnight and he will go to bed late or he will stay all night to finish his job. In this case, teacher’s brain produces cortisol more than programmer’s brain. Sure, teacher looks younger than programmer. I have two persons whom I will compare to. The first person is my cousin, and the second one is my mom. My cousin is a programmer. He is twenty five years old now. My mom is a teacher. She teaches in kindergarten. She is forty four now. I do not know before, why my cousin looks older than my mom. I guess that he undergoes his life seriously, but I know now that he often stays all night to work in front of laptop and finish his job. His habit is the reason why he looks older than my mom because his brain never produces the cortisol while my mom finishes her job at eight pm and she continues to sleep. Another difference is the capacity of concentration. My mom has more concentration than my cousin. My cousin often drives in wrong way, takes the wrong tools when he wants to eat, and calls his sisters’ name wrongly. It is sleep deprivation effect.
I agree that sleep deprivation impedes productivity because brain has not enough rest to regenerate its hormones. These hormones are very useful to contribute brain to think, create and convey an idea. Based on several articles and books I have read, I found that sleep sufficiently is very crucial for giving our brain rest. Brain needs rest because it has to regenerate its hormones by carrying amino acids from the blood to the brain and producing cortisol. Brain transports amino acids from the blood to increase the capacity of memory, so that it can keep a number of memories for long time. Person who sleeps well at least six hours a day has a good capacity in remembering anything. Cortisol is very important to reduce stress and bad mood. It also can increase concentration. Cortisol is produced between midnight to dawn. Therefore, we have to go bed and sleep well before midnight. Person who sleeps before midnight, his brain will produce cortisol more than person who sleeps after midnight and it affects the first person will look younger than the second one. In short, if you want to be productive, do not let sleep deprivation impedes your productivity.
